One example, Honeywell has recently released the Honeywell CT60 what runs Android N-Q. Similarly, how you are familiar with receive software updates on your smartphone. Now, this is the case with the mobile handheld technology for your business. Businesses are ultimately provided with the latest technology, protecting your investment, and providing a long-term solution.

Goodbye, Windows Mobile 6.5

Microsoft announced the sun-set of Windows Mobile 6.5 back in 2015—and has not made any new enhancements to the operating system since then. At the time of the announcement, Microsoft laid out a 5-year plan to fade of support of Windows Mobile 6.5. Here now in 2018, Microsoft is closing on legacy software that has been so dependable and reliable for so many years. Now is the time to move to a next generation OS, either Android or Windows 10.

Moving to the Cloud

Does hearing the word, “Cloud” make you cringe? This paragraph is designed to help your wrap you hands around who are the players in the Cloud market.

Determining the storage strategy, with to host it on-premise or in the cloud, is at the core when exploring moving your business’ enterprise application. Let’s first recap some market data about what service consumers are using.

According to Statista, in 2018 there will be 3.4 Billion cloud based users around the world. That is an increase of 1.2 Billion cloud based users from 2013.1

Major 3 players currently in the Cloud space is Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google. Last year in Q3, Microsoft Azure grew 90% in the quarter according to Canalys. 2 Followed by Google at 76% and Amazon’s AWS at just a little over 40%. In a recent article from TechCrunch, Frederic Lardinois breaks down Microsoft growth in 2017, “The company, however, has long said that it wanted its cloud services to reach an annual run rate of $20 billion by the end of its 2018 fiscal year. This year, Microsoft’s commercial cloud run rate hit $20.4 billion.”3

In summary the biggest difference between Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft’s Azure, AWS is a Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Azure is a Platform as a Service (PaaS). Azure provides you with a set of development tools, deployment tools, and cloud management tools. AWS is infrastructure for you to host your data in the Cloud. A WNS Representative would be happy to answer any questions you may have and talk with you about moving to the Cloud!

2D Barcoding

You may already be familiar with 2D barcodes, scanners and handhelds, but more, more manufactures and suppliers are incorporating 2D barcodes for labeling packages and for their products. Typical, 1D Barcode is limited to 25 characters. 2D Barcodes can contain up to 4,000 characters allowing for companies to store more information in the barcode than just a price or SKU number.
